To ensure the best possible therapeutic outcome we assess client concerns, as well as strengths and resources, and then match these with the most appropriate evidence based form of therapy. Evidence based forms of therapy are those therapies which have undergone extensive research and evaluation and have been found to be effective methods of treatment. Types of therapy we use include Cognitive-behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
In addition, we often use mindfulness and meditation principles to assist clients to slow down and refocus their attention to their current experience, thereby improving relationships and adding further meaning to their lives. Mindfulness is also a valuable tool to assist clients to tolerate rather than fall into the trap of avoiding more difficult emotions like anxiety, sadness, fear and anger.
